Official City Notices: February 3 Meeting Updates and Caucus Night Restrictions

City Council Meeting Updates and Schedule Changes
The Minneapolis City Council has announced adjustments to its legislative schedule for Tuesday, February 3, 2026. A meeting of the Committee of the Whole (COW) is convened at 9:30 a.m. in Room 380 of City Hall. This session is followed by the Intergovernmental Relations Committee at 10:00 a.m. Residents are advised that several regular standing committee meetings have been canceled this week to prioritize community needs regarding ongoing public safety operations. Furthermore, in accordance with Minnesota state law, no official city business or public meetings will be held after 6:00 p.m. this evening to facilitate participation in statewide precinct caucuses.
Civic Alert: Statewide Precinct Caucuses
Tuesday, February 3, marks the 2026 precinct caucuses for all major political parties in Minnesota. These grassroots meetings are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at various locations across the city. Caucuses serve as the initial step for residents to influence party platforms and select delegates for upcoming conventions. Voters can identify their specific caucus location by using the Secretary of State’s online lookup tools. Under state law, employees are entitled to time off to attend their precinct caucus, provided they have given prior written notice to their employers.
Winter Parking Restrictions and Snow Operations
Public Works officials remind residents that one-sided winter parking restrictions remain in effect to ensure that streets are accessible for emergency vehicles, fire engines, and school buses. Current regulations include:
- Parking is permitted only on the ODD-numbered side of non-Snow Emergency routes.
- Parking is prohibited on the EVEN-numbered side of these streets until further notice.
- Both sides of designated Snow Emergency routes and parkways remain open for parking unless otherwise posted.
Failure to comply with these restrictions may result in vehicles being tagged or towed to allow for effective street maintenance and plowing operations.
Public Health Advisory: Extreme Cold and Product Recall
A health advisory remains active due to an extreme cold warning affecting the Twin Cities region. Health officials urge the public to limit outdoor exposure, as frostbite can occur within minutes at current wind chill levels. Those who must go outside are encouraged to dress in multiple warm layers and take frequent warming breaks in climate-controlled environments.
Additionally, the Minneapolis Health Department has issued a notice regarding a voluntary recall of "Live it Up" brand Super Greens dietary supplement powder. The recall is due to potential Salmonella contamination and affects both original and wild berry flavors with expiration dates through early 2028. Consumers are advised to check their pantries and dispose of these products immediately.
Public Safety and Perimeter Notices
The Minnesota National Guard remains deployed at several strategic posts, including the intersection of 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue, to support local law enforcement. A temporary vehicle perimeter is also in effect. Except for residential traffic, vehicles are restricted from entering the area bounded by Franklin Avenue to 28th Street, and from Pillsbury Avenue to I-35W. Commuters should plan for alternate routes to avoid these security zones and allow for public safety operations.
