Health Advisory: Public Health Committee Recruitment
The Minneapolis Health Department has announced a special recruitment cycle for the Public Health Advisory Committee. Applications are being accepted from March 1 through March 31, 2026. This committee plays a critical role in gathering community input and maintaining readiness for routine and emergency public health needs. Interested residents are encouraged to apply to help shape the city's health policy and community outreach strategies.
Public Service Announcement: Infrastructure and Transit
The City of Minneapolis, in partnership with Hennepin County, reminds residents that major reconstruction work on Cedar Avenue (County Road 152) is slated to begin this year. The project, which covers the area between Lake Street and 24th Street East, will include new sidewalks, green boulevards, and separated bike paths. While major closures have not yet been implemented as of March 2, preliminary site preparations may cause intermittent lane shifts.
Additionally, travelers using Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) should be aware of ongoing capital improvement projects. Construction continues on the Terminal 2 traffic lane expansion and Terminal 1 roof repairs. A new parking guidance system is also being installed in the Red and Blue ramps to assist drivers in finding open stalls.
Winter Parking and Safety Reminder
As of Monday, March 2, 2026, a Snow Emergency is NOT currently in effect for the City of Minneapolis. Normal parking rules apply across all municipal routes. However, city officials urge residents to remain vigilant and sign up for automated alerts, as weather conditions in early March can change rapidly. Property owners are also reminded of their ongoing responsibility to keep sidewalks clear of ice and debris to ensure pedestrian safety.
