Official City Roundup: Public Meetings, Health Advisories, and Winter Parking Updates

Official Meeting Notice: Bicycle Advisory Committee
The Minneapolis Bicycle Advisory Committee is scheduled to convene today, Wednesday, February 18, 2026. The meeting will begin at 4:30 PM and is held in Room 11 of City Hall. Members of the public are encouraged to attend to discuss ongoing infrastructure projects, safety initiatives, and the expansion of the city's cycling network. Agendas are typically made available through the Legislative Information Management System. If you require American Sign Language (ASL) or other language interpretation services, please contact the City Clerk's office directly to facilitate future accessibility needs.
Public Health Advisory: Fungal Outbreak and Food Recalls
The Minneapolis Health Department and state officials have issued a high-priority warning regarding an outbreak of Trichophyton mentagrophytes genotype VII (TMVII), a sexually transmitted fungal infection. Cluster cases have been identified within the Twin Cities metro area. The infection presents as red, coin-like rashes and may require specialized medical treatment. Residents are advised to consult healthcare providers if they notice unusual skin irritations.
Additionally, several active food safety recalls are currently in effect. Residents should immediately check their pantries for the following items:
- Tippy Toes Baby Food: Recalled due to the presence of toxins.
- Stellar Bay Oysters: Flagged for potential Norovirus contamination.
- Rosabella Moringa: Linked to drug-resistant Salmonella alerts.
Please discard these products or return them to the point of purchase for a full refund.
City Council Update: Liquor License Delays
The Minneapolis City Council’s Committee of the Whole recently moved to table the liquor license renewals for two major downtown establishments: The Depot and Canopy by Hilton. This decision follows public testimony and constituent concerns regarding safety and the potential use of these facilities by federal immigration enforcement agencies. The renewal applications remain under review as the Council investigates the alignment of these businesses with the city’s standing as a Welcoming City. A final determination is expected in the coming weeks.
Public Works: I-394 Construction and Snow Status
Maintenance work on I-394 and I-94 between downtown and Highway 100 has officially resumed this month. Crews are currently focused on bridge and ramp repairs, including the Dunwoody Boulevard ramp and the Penn Avenue bridge deck. Commuters should expect lane restrictions and potential delays during peak hours.
Regarding winter weather, a Snow Emergency is not currently in effect for the City of Minneapolis. While a winter storm system is moving through Northern Minnesota today, local accumulations have not reached the threshold for emergency parking restrictions. Residents are reminded to follow standard parking meter regulations and keep sidewalks clear of ice and snow to ensure pedestrian safety.
