Official Notice: City Council Schedule Adjustments and Board of Adjustment Public Hearings

Public Notice: Minneapolis City Council Meeting Schedule Changes
As of Thursday, January 29, 2026, the Minneapolis City Council has issued an official notice regarding significant adjustments to its regular meeting cycle. In response to ongoing community safety concerns and the high demand placed on City administration and staff by recent federal law enforcement activities, several regular committee meetings have been cancelled. This change is effective for the next three weeks, through February 19, 2026.
- Cancelled Meeting: The Climate & Infrastructure Committee meeting previously scheduled for Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. is officially cancelled.
- Referral of Items: All agenda items originally intended for this committee and others will be referred to the upcoming Committee of the Whole (COW) meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
- Upcoming Full Council: The full City Council is still expected to meet as planned on Thursday, February 5, 2026, in the Council Chamber (Room 380) at City Hall.
Public Hearing: Board of Adjustment Meeting
The Minneapolis Board of Adjustment will hold a public hearing today, January 29, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. to consider several land use applications. Residents and interested parties are invited to provide testimony regarding the following cases:
- 3131 19th Ave S: Application for a variance to increase the maximum floor-area-ratio to permit a new addition to the existing property.
- 1100 Irving Ave N: Application for a variance to the required side yard to allow for the creation of a new off-street parking area in the front of the existing dwelling.
Parties wishing to speak may register at the meeting location or submit written comments to the Zoning Board staff prior to the start of the hearing.
Infrastructure and Public Works Advisory
Public Works reminds residents that major infrastructure repairs remain active throughout the city. MnDOT maintenance on I-394 and I-94 between downtown Minneapolis and Highway 100 continues, including bridge repairs at the Penn Avenue crossing. Commuters should expect ongoing lane restrictions and ramp detours in these zones through the 2026 construction season.
Winter Weather and Parking Status
As of this morning, no Snow Emergency is in effect for the City of Minneapolis. Normal winter parking rules apply; however, residents are encouraged to monitor city alerts as winter storm conditions can change rapidly. Property owners are further reminded of their legal obligation to clear sidewalks of snow and ice within 24 hours of a snowfall event to ensure public safety and accessibility.
